bphotos 0 Posted September 22, 2004 FYI, No models were harmed in the makeing of this photo......and I did miss type chains.... Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted September 23, 2004 I never questioned the methods. I'm sure it was a very stimulating shoot for everyone involved. My response was purely visceral... oh yah, beautiful color treatment, too. Link to comment
bphotos 0 Posted September 23, 2004 Thank you very much. Visceral is exactly what I was hoping the response would be. This metal through your nipples thing has me perplexed. When the model told me she had this done and described the process, this is the picture that came to mind. We talked about the concept and she agreed to give it a try. The details included hand tools so it was a little tense but everything worked out fine. This is one of those rare pictures for me that comes out the way it was conceived. Thanks again...... rascal64 9 Posted September 23, 2004 yah...you know, everytime I come back to look at this image, I like it more. I have to bump up my rating, so it stays in my highest rated category. up....up...up, we go....(ouch) Link to comment
aguiar_thierry 0 Posted September 23, 2004 and a well done picture! But I propose to you one a bit different. Link to comment
bphotos 0 Posted September 23, 2004 As best I can tell you removed the hardware above the lock. It does help keep my eye moving down the legs without being drawn upward as much as before. Nice catch. Thanks....Rick Link to comment

thomas_collins1 0 Posted September 24, 2004 My wife just saw it and said, "cool!" I agree with her. Very well done. Love the tone and plane of focus. Only I want to know who the fool is? :-) Link to comment
bphotos 0 Posted September 24, 2004 It's just a line from an old song. It seemed to fit, I'm not sure why. I just looked at the ratings (46) and 1 person rated this a 1/1 with 1 other rating it a 2/2. All other ratings were 4 and above with the majority 5/5 or better. It's interesting to me that someone would take time to look at this, dislike it completely and then take time to post a rating. Not sure why it caught my attention but it did. I've rated 1100+ images and never given a 1/1. There is a skip photo button you know.... Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted September 24, 2004 I'm with you on the ratings. The system is better, but not perfect. Almost all my images receive at least one low rating (with no comment)...I kind of get angry, but it is part of the risk taking that is included with using unusual subjects and having a non art-school aesthetic preference. Oh yah, the b-friend loves this shot, too. Link to comment
bphotos 0 Posted September 24, 2004 Tiffany, Thanks.....I'm new here and I'm learning how it works. It doesn't upset me when a picture gets a low rating I just find it interesting how people think. I try to rate the new stuff daily and when I come to a shot that holds no appeal for me I skip it. I gave out 1 2/2 before I decided to do it that way and I still feel bad about it. I want to encourage people. What's the point in giving a low rating? What I've started doing is looking at the percentage above 5/5. I do want to know if people find a shot special. Other than that it's just a bunch of strangers pushing bottons..... P.S. My fav is when you get a negative comment, go to their site only to discover their average rateing is in the 3s and that they have no postings of their own. What's that about? Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted September 24, 2004 I don't know. But, I'll bet those same people are bullies in their vehicles, as well. Link to comment
hayward 0 Posted September 25, 2004 Regarding the 1/1: I don't think I rated this picture - if I had, I'd probably assign a 6 for originality and a 5 or six for aesthetics. I've given a few 1/1's, though, and more or less reserve that for badly taken, unoriginal photos of subject mater desgned to shock or gross out. A couple of dead animal carcass photos come to mind. Some people, I think, are goin to always assign a 1/1 fo rnudity. The nipple piercing is not going to help with that crowd. It works the other way, too. I posted a traditional corporate headshot to the portrait board for advice on the lighting and an "artist," gave me a 1/1 on a photo I had worked pretty hard on and certainly wasn't deserving of a 1/1. 3/3 maybe. It works the same way that we see photos of kids from third-world countries getting high ratings, while photos of suburban kids don't. Sorry for the rant. Link to comment
studio5nine 0 Posted September 28, 2004 This photo is excellent to me. However I have rated photos 1/1 and wish I could rate some lower than that. If the majority of your ratings are low then you can assume you have a crappy photo. If they are mostly high then you can assume the out of place low rating is not accurate and almost always biased, and sometimes out of revenge. This site is for entertainment and feedback. Critiques should also be catagorized by the photographers experience, i.e., proffesional, novice, and amatuer. Link to comment
