george_crawford 0 Posted September 22, 2004 Focus or sharpness appears off . a Little soft for the subject or mabybe focused on the sand Link to comment
zbbrox 0 Posted September 22, 2004 Used 55 mm end of the 18-55 mm that came with the Digital Rebel, which is the equivalent of an 88mm lense, at f/5.6. I picked a small stick that had the same basic shape as the sand ripples and crouched really close the ground ;) I used manual focus and took the shot hand held as there was plenty of light. zbbrox 0 Posted September 22, 2004 George, I believe the center of the target is in focus, but the front end is soft. Would you reccomend stopping down in this case to make more of the scene in focus, focusing on the front side, or something else? It could just be that the lense is soft at 55 wide open, which I have just started thinking about recently, and was not considering at the time. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 22, 2004 Thought it was a snake jumpin outta my monitor when it came up lol. Sand grain was first thing that appealed actually. After your eyes focus though it seems the entire top half of photo is wasted and divides it unaturaly....Might work well with a much lower angle and big DOF...the sea will still be secondary. Now you have a good excuse to go to the beach. Link to comment
