do you get to push film, both color and B/W?. I´d like to know what´s your lens´ aperture as well, cause I do a lot of concert shooting and I have to push to 800/1600 ASA as a rule (and I use a 50mm., f/1.7)

this was a unique show, as i actually didnt use flash, due to the floodlights. i dont remember if i pushed the film. but since it was color, probably not, as it's DX-coded and i hand it to a lab and thus twice as much no control over development time. as a rule, i just go to a show, try to predict how much moving around the players are going to do. if not much, i meter while changing the ASA setting. if i can get a 15th or 30th of a second out of pushing to 800, that's pretty good. with color, i'm willing to shoot at slower shutter speeds, becuz color blurs are more interesting than grey blurs. when using flash, i shoot at ASA400 90% of the time. i dont see any point in pushing the film if youre going to use flash, it just makes it grainer and gives you a DOF that's too deep. in fact, i've gotten great results at shows with TMAX ASA100 (see my #478000). sometimes i'll want to be able to use flash and go w/out flash on the same roll, and will push to 800. for shows i mostly use a 50mm/f1.8 and a 28mm/f2. most of this pushing jazz applies to TRI-X, which you can abuse the hell out of. i dont know about other brands.
