Cool shot. I can't believe it hasn't received more ratings or comments. Interesting subjects. Nice work.

Well Csab', plenty of breathing space around your subjects here and it looks to be quite an intriguing capture...

I like the fact that both women made eye contact with your camera (hence the viewers of this image). There appears to be a strong resemblance between them, which made me think that these are two sisters. One has clearly embraced the casual dress standards of the western world, whilst the other is maintaining a more traditional costume. This in turn made me wonder why both would be out this late at night. The "sheltered" position of the woman in the (empty) newspaper stand is fascinating to me. I thoroughly enjoy an image that makes me look and think and then look some more. Nice work!

Thanks Peter.

Hehh, honestly, there was even more "breathing space" around them, on the orifinal full frame. In a large format print it works like that, but not on the PN interface - the face details,e.g., got lost when i made it "fit". So, i cropped :D

As to the sisters or not question/comment: They indeed look similar, i bet they are family. Lately(?) i see here alot of these scenes where some members of the same islamitic family wear a 'hoofddoek' and look very traditional, while their sisters/brothers are completely "westernized". Even on the pub street in the late evening you can see a few girls walking together, with this combination. Strange enough though to have them in the same family - probably the rules are much less strict nowadays and it's more of their own choice what they do with their tradition.

Yes, they made eye contact with the camera, good point:) It was a TLR on waist level. I've set focus and exposure behind a pillar and then stepped out, framed and exposed, to make sure they won't shy away. Three seconds later they were not looking at me anymore...

By the way, did you see the shoe of the "sheltered" one? :) I only noticed on the print, not at the location, hehe
