An Teallach ridge

ian cameron

I attempted to reach the summit of this peak, An teallach five times, on each occasion I was beaten back by snow, torrential rain and thick fog. The light was less than sensational so I had to find a strong composition to make a satisfying picture. I was fortunate to find this reddish rock, like the stone had melted, it contrasted strongly in texture and colour with the background sharp jutting ash grey ridge behind. Please visit my website. and some superb images at Timecatcher too.

An Teallach ridge brooding in the background. No sunlight alas. I

found this contrasting reddish rock looking like melted ice cream and

juxtaposed it with the sharp ash grey ridge behind.

The colour -and texture- contrast between the ridge and the foreground rock formation is really interesting and I think you fully reached your target.

I just wonder whether it would not be enhanced by getting rid of the lower rock, of which we see colour but not texture. Or is there a reason in favour of its presence?

Hi Salvatore, thanks for your critique. My personal opinion is that if the light had been more interesting then perhaps I would not have been forced into the situation of finding a foreground to act as a foil for the massive ridge behind. However surely the contrast in both colour and texture merit the use of the inclusion of the foreground boulder.

ill give it a 7.7 ian for humphing that brute up the hill!

the subdued colours work for me here, as a change from Red Rock country effects....very nice indeed!
