Garnet & Gold

eachica

Colors & Levels manipulated in PS. I used four different colored layers for the sky. Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue. There was a lot of adjustments, cutting and cropping of each one of those layers, just until I got it right. An effect like this can be pretty time consuming but very much worth it.

I like this very much, Erin. The silhouette of the statue is presented in a compact angle to allow for an unusual vertical frame, and it is perfectly set off by the "radial movement" of clouds and sky. The amber range of tones exhibit just the right contrast and mood in keeping with the statue's pose. Even the statue's base is an interesting visual element. Overall, a very well done image!

Well done. This is my favorite in your portfolio. Did you color the background? It doesn't really matter, just curious.

Fantastic shot! Great backlighting. FSU fan? I'm still hurting from when they beat Nebraska in '93:(....;)

Erin,

I like this much better than the original. The fiery sky background is fitting with the action of the silouhette. And if these are also the schools colors, BONUS!!

Not patient at all. I live about ten minutes from the football stadium... so I knew a good time of day to go... got out of the car snapped a few shots and back in and drove away in a matter of 15 minutes. Like I said before... use the sun to your advantage. I find natural light is the best light. In this particular image... the sun is positioned right behind the statue... late in the afternoon. And I'm standing in his shadow. Of course this image has been color adjusted in PS. And the background was naturally blue... I have the original uploaded in my portfolio. Anyways... I've also noticed taking pictures of subject with direct sun on them... I try to find a shadow I can stand in so that the sun is not glaring into my view finder. Just a couple of suggestions that I've learned through trial and error.
