phule 9 Posted September 17, 2004 Rorschach would be proud. :) Glad to see you posting again Doug. Your images continue to amaze me (and make me really jealous). Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted September 19, 2004 Rob, I wish I could live up to your expectations, but at the moment I'm in a non-shooting slump. Once again, for the umteenth time, I'm sick of my photographic options in terms of subject matter....haha, like hitting this brick wall... Jacques, out of nearly 150-200 images posted in one day, it's interesting to see which ones got the most attention, or any attention. Link to comment
phule 9 Posted October 1, 2004 << Rob, I wish I could live up to your expectations, >> Well, I have no expectations of your work Doug, so I can't say you have anything to really live up to. I just enjoy many of the things you post. You've got a way to select composistions I wish I could distill from my work. Far too often my images are either too busy, too complex, or just down right silly. Of course here the devil is in the detail but it's still an image I could never make. I'm not trying to be a fan-boy or anything, I just think a lot of your images resonate well with where I want my photography to eventually be. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted October 2, 2004 Rob, thanks. That's a great compliment, and fulfills most of my goals with photography. I wonder if sometimes I get hung up over my own expectations. This morning I shot stuff I've photographed before, same location, same subject as a another day. The results are pretty, but have no real meaning to me. I think what I'm learning is that there are photographers who can, and do, photograph with the grand idea in mind, the earth shaking project that has everyone buzzing, but that may not be me. navarra 0 Posted October 12, 2004 Funny how this reminds me of some of my works, and I have a project for "ground" pictures as well (a bit different from yours though). Whose influence is spoiling the other? :) Simone Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted October 12, 2004 Hi Simone. I remember your pictures from way back, and I took a look at your folder called Walls--excellent work. I like it very much. I started (and finished) this project in 2001, sometime around February. I'm sure it's been done before and some other photographer beat us both. Link to comment
navarra 0 Posted October 13, 2004 I'm really happy you liked my work! Of course there is always someone that has made "it" earlier and better, but I believe that the important is to try and really put a little bit of ourselves in our works so that they become unique. Simone Link to comment
