Do you have one with the lighthouse in focus? It bothers me I can see the it. Otherwise it's really good, I can smell the ocean breeze.

Sorry Derek! Yes, I have one with it in focus, I'll work on getting up up here one of these days. I kind of like the brush (except for that nasty bare spot in the corner.)

I agree about the brush , I like it too. I actually know this park very well, since I am from the Oregon area. It is such a great park.

The other shot is now in the portfolio. I was amazed at this little park. It had a great path along the point, every bit of it is scenic. It has some great parkland to roam around. The parking is extremely close for such a vista. My only gripe was the unlear signage. I went there on a weekday and there was no ranger at the shack (which was shuttered). Having never been to OR, I just assumed it was "free" on weekdays! Wrong. I had a nice little note on my car when I got back. On the way out I saw the sign for exact change in the machine, etc. It wasn't my rental car, so I don't know if they ever sent a ticket :)

Ok ,now I have seen both. And there are aspects of both I really like. So if I had to choose the best one I don't think I could do it. I like the focused "brush" of the first one and I like how the "lighthouse" is in focused in the second shot. Both are interesting to look at and give the feelings of being at the coast. So What made you choose this photo to post over the other one? I am curious as to how you made your decision. Maybe I can learn something from this.:)

I didn't feel like putting too many shots up at the time, and the two were so similar I didn't want to put both up initially. Why this one? No really strong reason. I happened to really like the way the white and green looked against the brown grasses, tied in with the blue it was really great. It was about colors and textures. The lighthouse was an interesting contrast to the ocean and was a great connection to the white flowers in the other diagonal corner, but not big enough to justify a whole lot of detail or sacrifice the near focus to get it at least. Of course, I could always cut & past the in-focus lighthouse from one into the other, but I didn't do it because I took this shot for the reasons stated above, and an in-focus lighthouse interfered with that. But that bare spot just bugs the crap out of me. I could clone that too, but it seems like cheating, and I'm not that good at cloning yet!
