If this is modified, then you should get Photo of the Week. If it HASN'T, then you should get PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR!!! This is one of the best I've seen. There won't be any topping this one. Well done!

the debate if it is manipulated or not? Of course it is, as are 98 % of the top rated images on this site.

It is easy to see that it is (pure physics). By the direction of the "God rays" it would seem that the sun is directly above the boat, which means that the boat had to be somewhere on the equator at noon. However, more importantly, there are other patches of brightly light sky which do not project "God rays", but they should.

Notwithstanding all this, I think this is an excellent, graphic (not so much a photograph), and deserves 7/7 rating, when compared to other stuff on this site.

I took the liberty of modifying the crop of the image to cut out the other bright patches of sky, and leave only one. Of course image should now be modified so that it looks like "God rays" are coming from the single opening in the sky and not slightly above. That would make it even more apealing.

Of course this is a wonderful image, but like many, many shots on PN the details of manipulation are not being disclosed. Personally, I have a great deal of problem with non-disclosure. This is particularly true where an image appears too good to be true and the innocent observer is led to believe that opportunity has indeed been quite good in catching the shot in the camera. It is this added luck or planned luck that can make a shot great ... and the PN viewer should have this information.

No question this is excellent work; I do wish we didn't have to try to figure out whether they are creations or photos; maybe not calling them photographs, but graphics or images would help. When a scene existed only in the imagination of the artist, it's of course still a valid artform, but getting this scene as an actual photo would be practically miraculous. Creating it in a photo editor is not quite so amazing, though this is very nice work.
