stephen_jantscher 0 Posted August 27, 2001 Mike, You had a nice scene there, but your problem with a washed out sky would have been fixed to some extent with the use of a graduated neutral density filter. You sky was too bright when compared to the beautiful reflection. Your film could not properly expose both at the same time , so you/your camera exposed properly for the water. With a graduated ND filter, you could have darkened up the sky, bringing it's correct exposure closer to that of the water's, and perhaps gotten them both in one picture. Good luck next time. That sky , judging from its reflection, must have been a doosey. Steve Jantscher PS- By the way, what type of exposure setting did you have in the camera at the time. I'm wondering if it was a Matrix/Evaluative metering selection, which I believe generally tries to guess that the subject most times is below a "bright" sky, and exposed for the darker water in your case. fabriziogiudici 0 Posted September 30, 2001 Stephen is right for what concerns the ND filter; but it would induce a (less important) new problem: the top of the trees would be darker and the filter presence would be noticeable. It is "just" a very difficult situation to catch. Link to comment
