During a hike. Mist covered my lens, so resulting in soft filter

effect. Didn't get a chance to bring a tripod. The lower-right end is

a reflection from my UV-filter thread. Critiques and comments are much

appreciated.

Ok - after seeing our versions .............. I like the original better. I played with cropping the bottom but the trail is too important to me.

so there ...

Wow, thanks again for the improved images! I like both of them very much.

After seeing Michael's version, I wish there were some reddish leaves on the trail side, but perhaps it (the time) was a little early. Regarding the crop, I am sure Michael prefers tighter one better. :) I like the extended path, but wonder how it would look if I captured the man a little earlier. (actually the man moved much further while the artificial intelligence algorithm in my toy camera was pondering...)

B&W conversion is still not easy for me (to have nice results), so for now I'd better let it done by other masters like you and get some ideas on the directions to go when I do it by myself.

mmm... Ken's title... Now you can implement your sense of humor on any kind of pictures... It doesn't even need to have humorous contents.

Kay, While I agree with Michael's crop (centrally placed subjects rarely produce outstanding shots) I must (respectfully) disagree with Ken on the desaturation to B&W. (not sure if he's pulling your leg or not - he's such a kidder!) This shot is so flatly lit that the only thing separating the elements is colour. Colour better depicts the feeling of the location in my opinion. This advice probably worth what you are paying for it.:) Best, LM.

Len, thank you for your visit and comments! mmm... Centered composition... There are always TOO many things to consider!#$%!! Sometimes frustrating, but still it's good to be reminded of that there are such things. Thank you for the input! Lately I ran into so many exellent portfolios that I never came across before, and yours is one of them. I wonder why I didn't see yours before... By the way, I'm not a woman although my screen name looks like one. Some people were already using kc and KC when I discovered this website... (-_-)

Michael, thank you for the link, and now it's your turn to tell us what's in your fridge!

KC, How do you think I felt when, years ago, when I was in the military & the guys in my platoon referred to me as 'Elsie' (name tag said 'Marriott LC') :) God! Please don't tell Ken, he'll hound me to death! :) Best, LM.

Too late ........ look at the time difference in our comments - 15 minutes. Yer gettin' old Lynn ........... (-;

Now E ... er ... Len - you can plainly see my last comment saying I think her/his/its original version is better ............. so it sounds like we agree - eh ?

Join the club, Kay. I'm not a tennis star although I play one on TV. Come to think of it, I'm not a photographer either, but pretend to be one on PN! :-)

heheh... everyone has some history with his/her/its name... Michael, to be honest, it was exactly what I thought when I saw your screen name first. 'wow, the famous michael chang!' And then Ken told me you are actually a ninja master. That's when I learned the tennis star Michael Chang is actually a ninja master who smokes while he is eating gold fish.

Ken, hahahaha... that's hilarious...

Ken, I apparently have more talent than I'm aware of. :-) Did I ever tell you I imagine you to be Hoss Cartwright? Must be the Texan thing..

And I would never dare call a man in uniform "Elsie"...

Again, another great shot! I feel your work really lends itself to B&W (but that's just my opinion) I also would take advantage of the fog/mist and experiment with employing a diffusion glow in photoshop. I took the liberty (hope you don't mind) to desaturate the image to B&W, use the burn tool on the highlights, then mid-tones to tone down the reflection in the lower right as not to have to crop it out, and finally added a diffusion glow. To round things off, I went back in with the burn tool and used it to darken the shaddow areas to add a little depth. Hope you like the variation on an already great photo... Let me know.

Hi, welcome back. And thank you very much for the suggestion and the detailed instruction! I like your version, too. Still I'm not very good at working with photoshop, so satisfy myself just watching other ones' nice work like yours.

Kay C as somewhat of a hiker myself I would keep the color. It envelopes me into the picture more but that diffused glow idea may add more as well.
