santa1 0 Posted September 2, 2004 The foreground was photoshopped to remove the colorization from the incandescent light. I liked the effect. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted September 3, 2004 wow. what a wonderful sky and green aurora. and the house - what a beautiful dream. Congratulations for such capture and photograph! All the best, Biliana Link to comment
santa1 0 Posted September 3, 2004 the f717, if you can accept the noise, does a great job. On this night it was -35F and nobody had a serious DSLR. Mine was the only point and shoot in a group of 4 that could pull off 30 sec at f2, which is roughly on the money for the Lights. Link to comment
vickilynn 0 Posted September 3, 2004 I sure hate I did not get to see this myself but thanks to you "I Did" Very nice work.I really like your portrait in your biography. Link to comment
erikadams 0 Posted September 3, 2004 Outstanding shot. The shape of the aurora leads you to the house on the left. This must be your workshop, Santa. One of the better aurora photos I've seen. Link to comment
Tony Rowlett 53 Posted September 3, 2004 Fairbanks!! My home town, and I grew up with the cold and the Aurora Borealis. The clearer, the colder, the more beauitul it is there. Nice work. Link to comment
santa1 0 Posted September 4, 2004 The pole on the right is a huge awning/cover that is opened in the summer, I think. Link to comment

jake_richardson 0 Posted September 5, 2004 Is that what the northern lights really look like? Link to comment
santa1 0 Posted September 8, 2004 yes, that's pretty typical green. the long exposure often makes them deeper than your eye might perceive; they probably didn't look quite this bright to the eye, but not dramatically different. Occassionally they are red but green to greenish-blue is the most typical coloration. Link to comment
