christiankiely 0 Posted August 30, 2004 I went with the intention of a sunset shot, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for this shot. Something about it really appealed to me... kind of "people watching" the people watching the sunset. Link to comment

patrick flynn 0 Posted August 30, 2004 This shows that you have an "eye" for the right picture. Just the sunset would have been just another sunset; a nice one, but just another sunset. I really like this picture. Nice choice in borders too. Link to comment
eric_t. 0 Posted August 30, 2004 I'm not much of a lover of sunset photos...often too much of the same old same old. But this one has character, energy, and imagination. Very nicely done! Link to comment
g2imaging 0 Posted August 31, 2004 This shot is far more interesting than a sunset shot would ever be. Great catch. Link to comment
jr333 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I was recently on the Huntington beach pier Aug 12 for the first time ever, being a native new yorker I was in awe of the beautiful sunset. This picture captures that feeling! Link to comment
gilbert_fortier 0 Posted August 31, 2004 Incredible picture! Extreme attention to technical details: composition, straight lines, and all... You didn't have 10 minutes for sure! Very nice. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 31, 2004 What a wonderful composition. Not only is the sunset beautiful, the silhouetted people add such interest in their postioning. Perfectly composed & executed. Link to comment

henrimanguy 0 Posted September 1, 2004 Excellent shot, and certainly more interesting and original than a simple sunset. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted September 2, 2004 Christian, this definitely is better than just having the sunset! Great composition, and congratulations! ^_^ Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 2, 2004 I took a shot just like this probably 4 years ago through the same pier, but I think I like yours better since you had a longer lens to work with (I assume you shot at 500mm?) and it allows the sun to show up so much bigger. Congrats, and its a rough life living in SoCal. There was a guy there when I took my image selling posters he'd created while taking a picture of the sunset every day for the whole year 2000 I believe, and every single image was on this poster. Pretty cool. Link to comment
taner 3 Posted September 5, 2004 Congratulations to the photographer - and thanks for demonstrating the power(!) of telephoto landscapes. This might be shot at 500mm - and then some crop on top - or maybe it is the multiplier factor of the smaller sensor - I am not sure, but this is a perfectly executed demonstration of the fact that landscapes might actually be original (the compression factor here rocks) when smth other than 20mm to 28mm focal length is used. Cheers. Link to comment
