Squirrel-Tired!

kslonaker

This squirrel had me worried - I thought she was dying! I think she was just tired of waiting for me to quit taking pictures so she could steal the birdseed! A few seconds after I took this, she hopped up and scurried away.

Kim, I think I figured it all out. You go around and drug all the animals around your house and take pictures of them....just kidding! Man o man, you sure are really, really good at capturing variety of animals. I am probably most impressed with your ability to get super close to whatever you're shooting. Must have a magnetic personality!

I guess she was stunned by seeing me in boxers and furry slippers - oh wait, that's Ken's get-up! My attire was a nightgown and flip-flops, so that was probably enough to stun the wildlife, too. There IS something to the Slonaker method, after all! :) Thanks to all for commenting.

Really cute, and I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one running around in a housecoat and flip-flops taking pictures. It makes me feel, well........more normal! LOL. Nice job!

Well this generated a belly laugh on a day that I didn't think it was possible to do so. What a lazy bum squirrel. Just outstanding original capture of a very, very 'tired' subject... I just couldn't pass that one up Kim, sorry...

Still laughing... Dave

Yeah Kim this is a great shot! Did she know you were there? I've never seen a more relaxed squirrel... and your technique is exquisite as always ;)

Wow, this is generating a lot of interest! Here's a little more to the story (Ken, ssshhh, don't give away my secrets!):

The day before I took this shot, I noticed a pregnant squirrel, stealing birdseed. Now the males I chase off (simply because they are MEAN), but a pregnant female, well, I put out some almonds for her. The next day, I was sitting out, waiting for the funky-looking cardinals to come along and I happened to glance up. This squirrel was sprawled out like that, looking at me. At first I chuckled as I was taking the shot, but after about the 5th picture, I thought "she must be sick!". So I started talking to her, "are you okay, little squirrel??" and she bolted up the tree. I think perhaps she had just given birth and was dropping by to eat and noticed me sitting there and took a breather. I saw her come back later on and she pigged out on the nuts (and birdseed) so all is well in squirrel land. And I'm sure we'll soon have another six squirrels terrorizing the bird feeders!

Thanks for all the comments on this one. Glad it's giving a smile to everyone as it did to me.
