sallycd 0 Posted August 22, 2004 There is a roughness and tenderness in this photo. And also hope if this is a rising sun. What a glorious scene. Thanks for sharing... Link to comment
swenson 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Too much PS, GND, or both it. The foreground is so brighter than the middle with the light source coming from the back that it looks un-natural to me. Link to comment
wayne_matthews1 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Looks like a scene out of Lord of the rings - Great result Link to comment
yongbo 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Agree with Jim. This one feels like someone turn on the light while you are watching movie, it's hard to use the RAW format, great shot anyway. Link to comment
josh1 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Too fakey looking for my taste...but thats just me. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Some like surreal looking photo-paintings like this. Link to comment
christiankiely 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Oh, let me be clear... there are several elements leading to this the surreal feeling. There's a crazy amound of grads in front of the lens and then some work in PS w/ levels, etc. Of course it didn't look like this out there. But, I had a bit of fun w/ it and wanted it to appear other worldly. So... I didn't really do anything wild liek add any colors or add a fake sky, but it wasn't meant to re-create the scene that I saw. Perhaps next time I will go with that goal in mind. Thanks for the comments. Link to comment

Tuhin 2 Posted August 24, 2004 Yongbo is right , the foreground is bit bright , even then a great location and very good shot ... Link to comment
richard thompson www.fotoz 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Great texture, mood, colour and light. I recommend you soften the graduation between the mountains and the middle of the frame though. Link to comment
teknikal_pan 0 Posted August 5, 2007 Looks fake and like it's undergone heavy post-processing, but so do most "Photos of the Day." Link to comment
clayton_m 4 Posted August 5, 2007 For anyone born before PS came into wide use, it's obvious that a high contrast scene like this requires graduated ND filtering. And that has long been a method to create dinstinguished images that stand out from those of Joe Photographer. Just look through nature photography magazines and similar publications. I don't think the colors are unnatural at all, but it does have an extreme range of exposure lattitude. Maybe that looks unnatural to folks who are accustomed to the very unnaturally narrow exposure lattitude of both slide film and digital sensor. Personally, I think the image is successful. johnw63 0 Posted August 6, 2007 A very unique image. A fun one to look at. But...it looks like two shots. A sunrise ( or sunset ) with the twisted landscape with more direct lighting. THe sun just seems too low on the horizon to light the forground that way. It's a cool shot non the less. Link to comment
