ajpn 0 Posted August 21, 2004 Taken today at the California State Fair. Setting sun behind him, E-TTL below, Av 4.5, Tv 1/800, ISO 400, -2/3 Exposure Compensation. Pretty happy with his eyes, as well as the lighting. Comments, suggestions, ratings appreciated. Link to comment
lucas_jarvis 0 Posted August 21, 2004 Photoshop it up! I feel you could get a lot more outta this photo, great capture. Link to comment

jenna_g 0 Posted August 21, 2004 A reminder why motorcycles scare me! I have to say though that this is an awesome shot. Good work! Link to comment
ajpn 0 Posted August 21, 2004 Nah, I don't want to Photoshop it up. I've done a lot of these shots and it's not often you can get an expression through a helmet. Thanks for comments everyone. =) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Great color and detail. I don't know how you managed to get some lighting on his face, but it works! Good job! Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Perfect capture!!! Maybe the light in his face was reflected off the bike? Anyway, right place, right time..... Link to comment
ellie designs 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Great capture! The light is beautiful. His expression is so funny, looks like: "What the hell am I doing this for?" Link to comment
ajpn 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Kim, Sarah, Linda, L-E, thank you for dropping by. I was thinking he was looking pretty relaxed for what he's doing. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted August 22, 2004 He seems to be rather calmly sizing up what he has to do next. Incredible picture, Anthony. Link to comment
eric_t. 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Not a lot of good sports photos here...most too static for my tastes. But this one is exceptional. Catching expressions like that in the middle of great action is a rarity. Very nicely done! Link to comment
joe b. 0 Posted August 23, 2004 It's good there is no clouds that would take away from the face.Boy did you get lucky with the light on the face.I am partial to Drag Racing but this is very good for what it is. 7/6 Link to comment
ajpn 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Lannie, Eric, Joe... thank you kindly. I think the rider's name is Tommy Clower. Made my day when I saw this one. =) Link to comment
g1 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Who says the 10D's fps aren't fast enough?!!??! ;)Amazing capture. Well done! Link to comment
ajpn 0 Posted August 23, 2004 I actually agree with that statement. The 10D's fps aren't fast enough. Try catching a sequence of a skater doing 900 on a vert ramp and it ends up looking like a 360. And with these guys you get one shot as well if you want full extension, etc. So I rarely shoot bursts. And I didn't in this case. This was a single frame. But out of probably 8 attmpts this is the only one I could see his face clearly. The other riders were wearing smoked lenses so there was no chance of it happening with them. Joe said it best above... Lucky! But as with anything, the more you try the better your odds to get lucky. Link to comment
patrick flynn 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Great timing, focus, and comp. Thanks for posting. I agree on NOT photoshoping it up! Link to comment
g1 0 Posted August 23, 2004 'Slow' fps but moreover 'a single shot' just makes this capture even more incredible. Hats off! Link to comment
tholte 16,955 Posted August 23, 2004 Your exposure is way off, go and get the guy to do it again just like this. Just kidding, great shot!! Link to comment
ajpn 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Thanks Patrick and Wilson. Hehe Tim... I tried to get him to do it in a Bowler, but he wasn't going for it~! PS- G, I love my camera! Link to comment
