fabio b 0 Posted September 8, 2004 that is the dog - yes it is a big one, and a real member of the family! we all love it. we have taken it when my daughter finished primary school, and we leaved our city apartment, downsizing to one only settlement. the dog was 4 months, and when we took him home our cat was nearly falling from the window seeing him, but they came to be friends, with the cat sleeping between dogs legs. now he's eleven and it is a lifetime for a dog of this kind. he's a maremma sheep dog: i think there are not many of them in usa. they are not been recreated in 19th century, as most of dogs, but bread from 2000 bc whitout changing the race. a maremma sheep dog cannot be trained, nor forced: he knows by himself what he has to do, and needs to be grown with people he have to protect. in fact, they grow dog cubs with young sheeps after the firsts 40 days of life, to make dogs feel family with sheeps Link to comment
