Friend or Foe?

This image is a try to portray simple beauty. The deer is positioned

at the left side of the image to appear "disturbed", and the

colorscheme's effort is to enhance the emotions in the situation.

 

How do you feel about the image?

... I don't like it. I'm not sure what emotion the red colour was meant to evoke, but it doesn't evoke anything particularly pleasing in me. Also, photographically, the random blotches (top right and bottom right) detract, as does the lack of definition in the deer's back and hindquarters. If only the definition of the deer's face (which is good, I feel) had continued to the rest of the body.

Daniel, it's an interesting minimalist effect to be sure. I have no problem with the overall tone/color of the image, but I'll have to agree with Paul's comment about the blotches in the upper mid-right, and the dark area across the top. Since you're basically doing the negative space thing, I think the image would be more effective with those darker areas removed.

With some time in between, now I see it too!
