Guest Guest Posted August 12, 2004 romantic use of screen - the lipstick is a nice touch, very appropriate - overall creative use of many elements Link to comment
st-zimmermann 0 Posted August 12, 2004 This is fantastic! Great lightning and perfect play of elements. I love the idea of her holding the foreground. Makes it dynamic. 7/7 Link to comment
les_baldwin1 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Hi, This is an example of an good-excellent image. The pose and lighting are done very well. The Models expression and angle of her head arms and torso reflect very well. The head could be turned a little more toward the camera so that the nose does not interfear with the left eye.. But there are a few misses. First is the obvious bra marks between the breasts. You need to have the model remove her most restrictive clothing at least an hour before the shoot. This allows the skin to "pop" back out. Second there is a small dark spot on her left breast that looks like a bruise or perhaps an old injury use PS to remove this. Third, is her lips. The lipstick was obviously applied in/for color (photography) and the image altered. A normally dark lip color will add contrast (get darker) in B&W and can also shift in tonality. Lastly are the very obvious dark circles under the eyes. May I suggest a PROFESSIONAL make-up artist. One that is very familier with photo make-up and how it looks on film/digital. If you are working on a budget try and find an advanced student that needs portfolio work or maybe work out a trade w/ a working pro. Overall a nice image. Les Baldwin Link to comment
bobo1 0 Posted August 13, 2004 totally peaceful...totally beautiful...you captured the essence of both in this shot...well done! Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted August 13, 2004 That is not a bruise...it is what happens when anyone uses farbrics. It is probably a shadow of a crease. As for the rest of your comment. I am into creating natural images. Nature was never intended to be perfect nor should my models! I use PS usually for the sake of tonality or creating effects. I have never used PS to cover up a birthmark! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 14, 2004 I liked Les's comments, take them in context. Les, what would you do, if anything to her hair? I agree with the comment with the noce interfering with the left eye. Dude, awesome photograph! Link to comment
thomas_collins1 0 Posted August 14, 2004 I tend to work a lot more along the lines that Les suggested, but I think the natural look is fine if that is your choosen style. Even so, I would have paid more attention to the bra lines across her breasts. I like the idea of shooting through the fabric. Nice image overall! Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted August 15, 2004 I disagree again! There are no bra lines! You guys have to start working with fabrics to understand the effect of it. By the way, I am a woman not a dude! The reason I like to work with fabrics is to in a way soften the nudity factor instead of displaying a perfect "nude" body! Once again, photography is not about capturing perfection. That is for the photographers at the W magazine!!! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 16, 2004 I apolgize for mistaking your gender. Everone here has universally liked the photo. Excuse me again. Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted August 16, 2004 I just wanted you to know I am not a dude! :) By the way, you do not have to apologize for pointing out what you thought was an issue. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 17, 2004 This is lovely. A perfect, warm rendition of feminine beauty. I love the shadows from the fabric. It adds a level of depth. Excellent control over your DOF. I like that you didn't retouch nature's little skin flaws. It's those flaws that make us unique and beautiful, instead of "Hollywood PLASTIC". Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted August 17, 2004 There are times when a little bit of skin modification is needed for the overall effect of an image but I keep it to a minimal. In this image, there are no skin issues besides some moles! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 18, 2004 I do retouch my images, but moles are part of a person. When I'm doing composite art however, the model becomes an element in a greater image, then all bets are off. Still, a great part of the appeal to me of this image is that she looks so natural. richard price 0 Posted August 21, 2004 i like it all except for the bottom cropping. it lacks the poetry of the other borders. i just want to look at her face and hair and contemplate the gauzy screen. i don't know that her breasts add anything. maybe crop near the bottom of the neck or just below the cluster of small flowers on the screen. i think you almost got this one. marvelous elements. haleh b 0 Posted August 21, 2004 Just maybe the beauty of it is the option to concentrate on many elemetns. A choice to the viewer! :) Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 29, 2004 From a woman's point of view- The use of the sheer embroidered cloth is wonderful. I like the way the design in the cloth curves along with her pose. I like the pose of the model. As I looked it became obvious that the wrinkles in the lower part were in the cloth, not the skin of the model. I noted all the comments above about this, men thinking they were from a bra. I must admit I did giggle a bit at them. I wouldn't want to see or wear the bra that leaves those wrinkles. Anyway, I think the image is super, the only thing that distracts me is the cropping of the left (her right) breast. The other things mentioned above do not bother me at all, I really like the image Nice job! Link to comment
