f1-fanatic 0 Posted August 11, 2004 I hope he practiced a lot more after that shunt! On a serious note great capture and exciting crop... you really caught the intensity of the wreck. Hope the driver was unharmed. Link to comment
brant-o- 0 Posted August 11, 2004 Great capture. Hope he was ok. I like how you caught the rear wheel up in the air. 6/6 Link to comment
witolda_maruszewska 0 Posted August 12, 2004 Nice shot, great piece of timing! Looks like the back end got loose and he just "Mickeled" it into the wall - must have been a pretty hard hit as the wheels are off the ground! BTW, in ASCAR Days of Thunder (UK equivalent of NASCAR) we have a driver called John Mickel who makes a habit of thumping the wall in this manner - hence the description! :-) Link to comment
john_stark 0 Posted August 12, 2004 Greg Biffle, the driver walked away uninjured. Even more amazing is the fuel cell didn't leak and it was pretty mangled. Greg had set the fast time of practice the prior lap, tried to make it a bit faster but it swapped ends in turn 4. Greg wasn't near as fast in the backup car. The big thing that saved Greg was the S.A.F.E.R. barrier that is placed in each corner, without that I doubt Greg would have walked away. The front tire on the right side is also off the ground, just hard to tell in this small view, there is a puff of smoke under the wheel. I actually messed this series up, instead of having the camera set to 1000, 400 I bumped the button changing batteries and changed it to 400,400 so it's a bit soft blown up. Thanks for all the great comments! Link to comment
