Fly Face

mplonsky

Live critter on a white building. This is full frame. It is about as much magnification as I can get out of my current equipment. Working distance was about 1.5 inches (as it typically is when reversing a 50mm on a longer lens). I estimate it is 4x lifesize. DOF is paper thin at this magnification, so I composited 4 successive frames to increase it. Not an easy image to get, but I had been trying to fill the frame with a fly's face for a few years now. I encourage viewing at the larger size.

I only wish you could update your Macro Tutorial on the use of extension tubes, teleconverters, and diopters in various combinations. Especially when it comes to the DOF changes and working distances.

Thanks for your work and sharing!
