threeleaf 0 Posted August 10, 2004 Jayme - to me this is a fantastic image - personally I dont need any coaching to get it - I just do - not title changes nothing. Having flown transatlantic many times with my own two kids - it totally rings true for me - heck that even looks like the Dublin mountains in the background. Wonderful creativity Jayme - the most creativity I have seen in quite some time. 14/7 14/7 + thanks for making something fun too - I hope no-one gets into a skin tine / lighting / thirds etc discussion on this one :) Well done (as usual) Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 10, 2004 You know what, you are right, this is Dublin, not Shannon. Do you know your Ireland or what? I took this waiting to board the plane in Dublin. There is no city around Shannon. Just an airport! Thanks. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted August 10, 2004 In my opinion saying anything about this image would be an injustice because it would take more than 1,000 words to even approach explaining how great this image is. Amazing! Link to comment
mbalzan 0 Posted August 10, 2004 This is a true comment of the picture says it all. A true plus to photography. Link to comment

wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 10, 2004 All compliments had already been mentioned above. I would only add that the lighting of reflections in his eyes and the sky are technically a perfect match! Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted August 10, 2004 Interesting idea and nicely done. Worked the L1011 for years, unusual to see one. Most all have been retired or stored Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 11, 2004 Excellent. The reflection added so much to this scene, making an extraordinary effect, like a composite. great capture! Link to comment
reprint 0 Posted August 14, 2004 and very nice work. It is Dublin alright. Those are the Ballymun flats (tall buildings)in the background. You might be interested to know they are being demolished at the moment. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 16, 2004 How interesting, glad I took a picture while I awaited my flight. Link to comment
threeleaf 0 Posted August 16, 2004 Barry - I am delighted to hear that - I actually went once as part of an outreach to the unwed mothers out there - it was scary place - hopefully it will be replaced with something that does not become famous for the same reasons the flats did. I am guessing by the name you are a transplant from Ireland. Link to comment
kostas tsakalidis 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Great, great, great, great, great........... Link to comment
mbrown 1 Posted October 16, 2004 Now this is an amazing image, not just because of the "reflection" but more so for the look on his face, it conjures up so many emotions. You truly are talented Jayme. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Well thanks a lot Michael, back at you! This was one of those, I was feeling rather playful and so I couldn't resist! Caught a lot of flack from others on this one. Got several nasty emails on how I was desecrating the photography field (yeah, right) with my manipulations. How dare I have an image like this on the 1st page of the TRP. Geez.... get a grip! I just thought it was funny! You can see how much the photography industry has suffered! LOL Link to comment
mbrown 1 Posted October 18, 2004 I can't believe people would go to the trouble to email you those types of emails. I had a very in depth conversation with a friend of mine just the other night. He was one of the "traditionalists" that always said that digital was evil etc. Well he now has a different perspective, basically it is this...Ansel Adams was one of the great photographers of our time, who by the way used whatever technology of the time to bring out the best in a photograph (zone system etc), and if he were here now he would be quite happily using photoshop to do the same. Q. What is the difference between manipulating an image using skilled darkroom abilities, and manipulating an image using skilled photoshop abilities. A. One is done in the dark....(I made that up, you can use it if you like hehe) Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted October 18, 2004 I read a short article some time ago about Ansel, I drew the same conclusion. He use to carry around means of trimming the environment, like limbs and such, to improve his composition. Much easier to clone! LOL After reading this article, I no longer felt like a criminal when I manipulated by images. But Yep..... you have no idea what flack I caught over this one. I almost took it down, but then I thought, Naw....it was way too much fun to let anyone spoil it! Plus it epitomizes my philosphy on life, "If you're not having fun, stop immediately and re-evaluate what you're doing, life is sincerely too short not to have fun!" Link to comment
mbrown 1 Posted October 18, 2004 Don't ever take any of your work down purely based on other peoples "opinions". Whether or not it's a manipulated image is not the point with this photo, it's all about the image and what emotion or feeling it has brought to the viewer. If it is bringing an anger emotion because its a manipulation then the viewer really has missed the point. Personally it brought me a few different reactions, firstly it was "awe ain he cute", then it was "awe he's sad", then it changed to "hang on or is he happy/excited" and finally, wow thats a good photo, very clever. As you can see the effect this pic had on me was initially the emotion the main subject brought to the image, not whether it was manipulted or not. Keep enjoying your photography, cos your photography sure is keeping me entertained. Link to comment
