brian_bryce1 0 Posted August 22, 2001 I shot of a falls on the Cedar Run Trail in SNP. Camera is on a tripodin the water. Link to comment
yo 0 Posted August 22, 2001 Well, the subject matter is not bad, but you need better lighting. The bright sunlight at the top of the frame and next to the top of the falls is distracting. I would go back when the light is more even, and less harsh - ie, sunrise, sunset (if the light hits the falls at one of these times), or check it out on an overcast day. I might also try to get in a little closer, though I don't know if this would help. Cheers, Dwight. Link to comment
brian_bryce1 0 Posted August 23, 2001 I doubt it is ever lit much better due to it's position. Perhaps at 9 or so in the morning as the canyon faces East-ish. It was taken at about 1 pm. It certainly wasn't clear but it also wasn't heavy overcast. Link to comment
tony_ku 0 Posted August 18, 2002 A closer shot would be better, there are simply too much other things to distract away from the fall, particularly the trees above Link to comment
david.simson 0 Posted August 18, 2002 I like the composition too, but I'd echo the comments about the lighting. Another way to get more even light in this sort of situation is to be there right at or just before sunrise (low light, but still fairly even, also quite a warm light) and do a long exposure, possibly with a neutral density filter, or a graduated neutral density filter (I think the AE1-program can do long timed exposures, but I'm not certain). WJT 653 Posted January 18, 2003 I would have to agree with Tony that there are just too many distractions in your snapshot of this fall. Getting closer and at a lower viewpoint might have been better. Also, I hate to say it, but the use of a slow shutter with waterfalls is really overused today. Everyone is doing it. And in some cases it works wonderfully. But this looks more like milk than water. Link to comment
