davidmalcolmson 0 Posted August 5, 2004 Perhaps in this case a colour version would be best for this subject. The tonal gradations are a little coarse here and the background is too starkly black. The impression one gets is of a horticultural speciem in a lab rather than a fern in its natural habitat. Link to comment
rulian_estivalletti 0 Posted August 5, 2004 great composition, i love the negavite space around it, i think the black works well. the black does seperate the plant from where it's traditionally scene, but i think thats the intriguing part. the light on the plant and water is also very pleasing Link to comment
maria conversano 0 Posted August 6, 2004 What a beautiful and original composition! Magnificant! Link to comment
june_ranson 0 Posted August 7, 2004 Interesting picture, it's different to see this... um... fern in B/W for a change. I like the shadows and the composition and the raindrops and the whole thing. Link to comment
christineferdinand 0 Posted August 7, 2004 Thank you all for your comments. Like Rulian wrote, it was my intention to separate the plant by the black background. This photo of the - uhm, yes - fern, was taken outside. But it could have been a lab... the fern in it's natural habit ;-). Link to comment
jason_larkin 0 Posted August 8, 2004 I don't think the black is a problem. The composition is great and I love the water droplets. It's been a while since I have seen this type of... yeah, fern in it's natural habitat. In High School I did a lot of studies of this species, but that's ten years gone now. Great picture! june_ranson 0 Posted August 24, 2004 from what I hear (not firsthand) some of its natural habitats are in B.C. forests and basements! ;-) So it's found in labs, too? Why not! Link to comment
