dreed704 0 Posted August 5, 2004 Anyone have any suggestions of how to get any better DOF on shots like this? Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted August 5, 2004 The problem is unlikely to be depth of field. I guess the problem is more to do with vibration from the camera or the surrounding area of where the camera is sitting! I didn't check what lens you were using but a high quality lens helps. Also being in an area where there is no pollution would help this type of photo. Hope this helps! Link to comment
david_a._wong 0 Posted August 5, 2004 Its a nice shot. I also don't think that DOF is the issue. Remember the moon is about 384,400km away. So I don't think that going from f16 to f22 would change much. I would lean towards agreeing its either camera shake (hey, 1300mm is out there!) or optics quality. But you STILL have a nice shot that many would be happy to have in their files. Good luck. Link to comment
maarten_van_hoven 0 Posted August 5, 2004 Believe me, I'm an astronomer; DOF plays no role in these kind of pictures. For objects in focus at these distances, the depth of field is practically infinite. Even at large apertures... And you can't change that, unless you have a 1000 km sized camera... BTW, it's a beautiful picture! Link to comment
