mark_hamilton3 0 Posted August 14, 2004 Jean, this is a great photograph and I don't care if it was digital or film. Link to comment
joe swaney 0 Posted August 15, 2004 I've read through the comments, and feel the urge to say that I personally really like the shot. I have also shot some images in shaded forest areas that have appeared just as saturated on Velvia. It's true that Velvia is a saturated film, but almost no one seems to complain when it is used that an image is unnatural. Like Max, I too also see the path not often taken to the right, and feel an urge to go that way. I think adding a human or animal might mess up the image, but who knows, perhaps a PN elf is peeking out ever so slightly from one of those trees? Link to comment
john_macpherson 0 Posted August 15, 2004 Lovely image! Like several commentators I also am in Scotland, and I shoot huge amounts of film in similar conditions to the ones this image was taken in, and the colours CAN be this saturated. Photoshop is not required. I suspect that many of the comments above about how unnatural the green is come from people who have never really photographed in wet weather, or in the far (well reasonably far) north. And I dont think a subject is needed, otherwise it becomes a scene I could not be in......I much prefer to be presented with a scene, and in this case a path, that is 'empty' allowing me to contemplate being in it (or travelling down it). But there are minor things I would change - for me a crop off the rhs would improve it. Nice one Jean. Best, JOHN Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 15, 2004 Writing from Finland currently, I can assure all the doubters here that greens really can be as saturated as this up this way - especially during this wet summer. Whether or not PS was used to boost the green in this particular image, if you've ever been up this way, you'd not find this example in the least bit artificial-looking. Great work! Link to comment
jim_horn 0 Posted August 16, 2004 Great, I don't care whether or not you added the green thru photoshop or any other way. It's your interpetation that counts, and i certainly like it. Jim Link to comment
