Walter, where is this? its familiar but the green trees are stumping me..near Capitol Reef!? or Escalante...

Hi Derek! If memory serves, I believe this is near Capitol Reef. I mentioned in the Tech Details that it was near Bryce, but that is because I am unsure myself. I'll ask my wife; her mind is still lucid. Regards.

Hi Walter, I really love this grand landscape of Utah. If you think of where generally it is, I would like to mark it on my map.

 

Have you photographed this landscape in IR? I'm curious how rocks like this look in IR as I am traveling west in the fall (Dallas-LA) and may divert north through Utah. Would you recommend having IR in one camera while passing through?

Hi Becky! Thank you for the visit. None of my American West was photographed in IR. In fact, all of it was photographed in print film, no chromes even! If I were going again, I would most definitely try some IR out there. However, the little experience that I have has shown that vegetation, not cold, dead rocks are best for the IR effect. I would also like to try some shots using a Didymium filter as well; could be really interesting. Regards.
