Brilliant,

I love this photo; they light and the way the model look with her eyes. I would like to know why you called it October 32?

Anne Knes, thanks! Corne Mare, thanks! "October 32.. " - a hint on the unknown future or unknown present which occurs in the parallel world. In any case, that that unknown and it very much involves it the riddle!

What a strange shapped head! hehe. Well done with naturalistic looking hair. This does question the future. Well done. The only thing is - this colour is also quite strange - but perhaps you wanted that.. cya.

It's okay; we get the idea that this photographer knows his equipment.

But NOT light.

Why does no one say "the forehead is blown?"

Why not : "the composition is rather static?"

Why not : "Technically - but for the highlights - this is okay but for being a rather static image."

No, this is a shot by an accomplished fellow artist that ought to be improved upon; you are better than this dear Photographer.

The most interesting thing about this photograph is the beautiful curve my eye traces from neck to forehead - ahhh I am working so so hard to be able to produce beautiful lines like that with a pencil or brush..so (relatively)easy with a camera, a face and a light..

hence higher standards expected from those who know how to use a camera and a light

Oh where was I ? yes yes the photograph - I agree with the poster above completely. George 2/3 by my standards. Don't worry I dont fill in the ratings box - it wouldnt be fair to rate with different standards to those who do here usually. btw -Nana Sousa has a few similar shots that work - I suggest you have a look and see if you see anything in them that might help.

It's interesting to compare Peter's and Seven's comments about the bright forehead. Is it blown, or is it deliberate? (Perhaps "deliberately blown"?)

I was just sitting here myself asking whether the brightness really detracts or not when I looked up and saw those two opposing opinions.

Perhaps the background could have been a shade darker and then the forehead would not be so problematic.

In any case, the image is so striking that I am not going to venture an opinion about the lighting--just reaffirm the question.

The color cast frankly does not work for me. Still, it is such a good setup (apart from the lighting question) that I don't want to be too negative. I do think that it is worth trying again, with exactly the same model and pose.

About the superfluous illumination of forehead, criticism completely deserved.! I recognize that it could to the forehead leave more than semitone, but my task, was to make an unreal portrait and I in every way possible attempted to go away from the conventional canons! 4 greatly much I attempt to experiment with the image, I search for new in &.tsuot;formy&.tsuot; and I consider that necessary to more daringly break the laws of illumination, composition and so on, otherwise not to obtain unique thing!!!

Sergey, you certainly broke all the rules on *** and it certainly worked there. I think that it almost works as well here--if there were just a bit more contrast between forehead and background.

Even so, if you got what you were trying for, then it was a success, and my preferences are irrelevant, and my evaluation would be superfluous.

It is rather. . . otherworldly. Please ship the model over here ASAP. I'll even learn about lighting just for the opportunity to work with her--seriously work, that is, to see if I could get something one-tenth this good.

Perhaps George could teach me about lighting. I only work outside at present.

btw this shot looks much better in large size - hmmmm I would like to see a series - head tilted up an dno other changes to lighting..

Lannie the best thing to do if you want to learn about lighting is to get yourself a basic lighting setup and play, it is amazing what can be achieved with a modelling light and a reflector.

Thanks, George. I have considered it, if only because sometimes I get tired of shooting barns and ponds. Getting models out here in the boonies could be a problem.

Thanks, Lannie! It is very hard for me to understand sometimes sense as it is necessary to communicate through the Internet - the translator.. I want to tell one, illumination - business very simple, it is just necessary to observe more!

In general to me it is easier, as I the artist and me we admit "deceit" of the spectator. I can do anything you like with the image, for example with help Photoshop. But I as also the quite good photographer, therefore if am necessary, I shall photograph not worse!

Coming a bit late on this wonderful pic, I think the criticisms about the bright forehead have no sense if one looks about the style of the photographer in his portfolio. The tones around the neck are perfect. Nothing else to be said than 7/7, IMHO...

Pilou Face, thanks you! I concern to criticism quite easy, differently would not expose on a photo sites the works. If spectators have various opinions, means my works deserve it and it only stimulates me to creativity more!!! I precisely know, that my works - have the spectator and it is fair, as I think the works not primitive.
