This could be a really nice shot if it weren't for the bad scan - or whatever has caused the odd streaking effect to the right of the frame. Also, I guess a little more dynamic range would improve things, but you can't always control the lighting you have to work with. Fill flash might have helped, you only need a touch more light on the face to bring out the persons left eye - you wouldn't want to lose the nice gradiants on their face.
