Speaks volumes! I have long wanted such a tattoo (though I'll likely never go through with it) as my own little protestation against the erosion of our freedom accompanied with the increase in what I refer to as "unaccountable accountability."

Who watches the watchers? Why do you want to know? You must be a terrorist! Now watch this drive...

This is just great! A poignant image for our times. Does she really have a tattoo like that, or was it drawn for the image?

This image gives me the creeps! I am just glad it is not on her forehead! I rated you a 666 . . . oh, oh, I am sorry, I mean 6/6 :-)

One of the most "original" shots I"ve ever seen on this site. A look into the future aye? 6/7, I love it!

wow. a very strong image. really relates to all the "horor" stories of photographers getting asked for ID and therefore being "harrassed". great photo.

Yani V Luva - I understand a 4 in aesthetics, but a 3 for originality? You must travel in different circles if you have seen this image before. Can you share with me a link to a similar imgage? - Paul

Very creative, and a hot topic - kudos for originality - I almost envision this a Time Maghazine cover.

since you asked: originality (can be good or bad) has little to do with uniqueness but much to do with execution of the raw idea; and this is poorly executed and rather gimmicky. as such, I was generous, because I should have scored this 2-3. it lacks subtlety and comes off as overkill. the banding should be contoured and textured to the skin and the red laser glow very much dimmer. luvya!

May not be suttle, but it sure does speak volumes. The people at buzzflash.com I am sure would love to see this photo.

Your comment that the photo lacks subtlety and comes off as overkill tells me that my image had the effect that it was intended to have. I appreciate the compliment. Thanks.

The bar code was placed on the skin and not as flat as I wanted, but round neck, flat sticker and a daughter that didn't want to pose in the first place made this a one session effort. Can't argue that point one iota.

Thanks for taking time to offer written comment.

Just to add to the originality discussion, I have seen this type of image(although I can't produce evidence) never in reference so specifically to Homeland security though. But I do have a friend who has a barcode w/ his SSN underneath tatooed on his shoulder. And I actually saw a tatoo in my neighborhood in just about this location on a kid with spikey hair and lots of leather clothing. I assume in a similar sort of protest.

I do feel as though I have seen this in the media before...I want to say on the 1980's TV series Max Headroom imagery like this was used.

Here are some links to blogs that refer to folks that have this very tatoo:

Read this last one, apparently the pop star Pink has a barcode on her neck:

Since you know so much about what is or what isn't great photography Yani, perhaps you should display some of your photographs so we may bask in your glory. I especially love when people rate photos I havn't put up for critique. Thanks again!
