Sunset at the White Sand National Monument

This is certainly a beautiful sunset, but the photo could have been better with an ND grad filter to bring a bit more detail to the land.

Wonderful sky I would like to have seen the brilliance of the white sands also.

I like this photo as is, with the contrast between the darkness of the land and the brightness of the sky. Had the sand detail (etc) been present, it would have detracted from the drama of the sky. Because of this, however, I do think the horizon line should have been lower.

Beautiful colors. They appear warm and appealing. The texture here is great in the clouds and in the sand. If there was more light towards the bottom of the photo the details and texture might have been more visible and maybe could have helped enhance the picture. Even making the horizon line lower could have helped enhance the photo. I also enjoyed the way you captured the clouds appearing the move towards the back of the picture making it almost three dimensional.

Great color and movement in the sunset, but the land is too dark to be appreciated. The texture and color of the white sand is muted by this, and more of the sky should have been highlighted by a lower horizon line. Sounds like the ND grad filter would have helped to balance the light in a shot like this.

The colors are beautiful,but the horizon line could hve been lower to emphasize the clouds.

The colors and contrasts in this image are quite effective. However, if the horizon line had been moved lower in the picture more emphasis would have been placed on the sky which would have made it even more effective.

This is a good shot, however, the horizon line could have been a bit lower. The sky is much more interesting than the sand. Because the colors are beautiful maybe you should have shifted a little to the right to capture the deeper blues and reds.

i do not like the sprouting plants that go beyond the horizon line. however, it is a very beautiful sunset.

 

The colors in the sky are beautiful, but it would have been better if the horizon line were lower. The darkness of the land makes your eyes strain to make out the images.

Beautiful color in sunset. However, I think the pic would be better with more focus on sunset and less on the land. It is difficult to see any detail in the land. Overall, a beautiful pic.

I liked the way that you focused this shot on the beautiful colors of the clouds and the way your slow shutter speed caused the clouds to show movement. One change that I would suggest is that you either use the filter or not include so much of the sand in the photo because it is too dark to discern any details, which becomes distracting. Lowering the horizon line would also help alleviate this problem and emphasize the clouds--which seem to be the the focus of the photograph. Great job.
