kristian reinau 0 Posted July 23, 2004 This is a shot from a holiday in Norway last week. My whish before the trip was to come home with a picture showing the huge mountains and valleys of the country. The weather was quite poor the day I too this picture, but I think the huge cloud and the valleys of which some parts is dark because of the shadows from the clouds, visualises the ?hugeness? of the scene. The trees in the front are totally black on the slide because of shadows from another clod. This shot is one of my favourites from the trip. What do you think, does it show the ?majestic landscape?. alexandra rauh 0 Posted July 23, 2004 it does show the majestic landscape, and a eye watching it over the left white cloud Link to comment
james e. petts 0 Posted July 23, 2004 A very interseting photograph: you have captured a delightful sky and cloud formation. However, the contrast is problematic; the sky is correctly exposed, but the mountains are too dark. This is as a result of the huge lightnes difference between the sky and the land. The solution to this problem is to use a -2 (or even -3) stop grey graduated filter, which darkens part of the photograph (usually the sky), and leaves the rest light. Then just expose for the land, and your contrast problems are solved. With a graduated filter, this photograph could have been very interesting, since it appears to be well-composed from what I can make out. Link to comment
