George, crude but what you say makes sense. Sharpness seems pretty ordinary to me here and I detect noise as well. My trusty F505V 3 megapixel camera can achieve similar if not better results for postings in PN.

Having said that, one cannot tell from the upload here. Only if it is printed e.g. 13 X 19 " can we spot the quality and crisp clarity between a Leica and an ordinary lens. I know. I did a comparison.

I respect the act you don't like this snap. At the same time I must be proud to have one of the only 3 photos you rated on this Website and BTW to have your "Highest Rated Photo". I need to put you as Interested Person, and wait for your first upload, and maybe I will understand more and also I will meet somebody else "Knowing something about making images". That s what I am looking for. Learning from this kind of people. There is a lot in PN, showing up their photos. Just for your information, I have a better "Backlight Rescue" in Dark Room. At last, I cannot answer to you about Jorge point of view.

You are right. The scaning is done by Minolta Dual II. I need to redo it with a better Scaner, like the Minolta 5400. The developpment process it s not mine. I usualy do it by myself at home, but not this one. I didn t have time, and I did it in a normal but good quality shop. If the discussion is starting, I will try to do rescan it. Darkroon printing it s better.

Sorry George... Thanks to precise your comment. Of course, we, all here, like the people making comment and rating upload photos. There is some others Website, where you cannot rate, if you don t upload. There is a large population in PN, from beginers up to real professional. And for young photograph, as I am, we are very interesting to see the work of the people who rate or comment. The reason of that depends on everybody. You seem to be a new menber in PN. And, you can read through some Thread in Forum, How much good photographs are tired to receive low rating, without comment, from new menbers without posting photos. Wellcome to PN, and please be active, we need that.

Happily I see the photo at last! Great one as most critiquers say. In my case I don't object to the light shining bright at the end of the tunnal. That's perhaps the story's lesson. Let's hope, there is a faint smile in her face and bright light at the end!

Looks like that George has deleted his critique. A pity not to have the opportunity of reading a piece of nonsense. We can also learn from such comments.

I can't agree with Alec Ee comment. For me the quality of the sacn is not that bad.

Frederic, I have taken the liberty of calling attention to this image in the Leica forum, in a thread dealing with the three-dimensional effect that can be achieved with a Summicron.

Several contributors -- myself included -- suggested that the effect depends on using a fairly wide aperture and a lens designed for its rendition of out-of-focus areas.

With this image -- taken on an aspheric lens at, apparently, a small aperture -- you have made me reconsider my assumptions. You have achieved a remarkable illusion of depth by virtue of the perspective and the lighting.

I admire all your work, but this image in particular is spectacular. Congratulations.

Thanks Jonathan. I sometimes participate to LEica Forum, but I didn t have time on this last weeks. Next time, if I can contribute, Please, let me know, I will come earlier on the thread to participate.

Great composition and work, I like it a lot. Their faces look a little blurry but this might be the scan. Congrats!

This is a beautiful photo of two people ,that not only tells you something about them, and their relationship together, but about where they live. I like the way the street(alley?) has back lighting ,and the way the children have light comming in from the side.A beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing it.

Balaji... We don t live in the same place..but we met with Natasha...for some working day at the same place..in Riga and to share some experience with photography. So, you will maybe see, in the future, other shots from the same topic, every one, with it s own look. We were thinking about to uplaod a commun folder, but it wasn t easy in PN. That s a great experience for everybody. Natasha is one of the best photograph in PN, IMHO. Thanks for your attention. Also, just have a look to one of Natasha last uploads. One is called FRED..... ;) also this one http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2551487

Frederic, the image you took still deserves a 7/7 for it's artistic rendition and great composition notwithstanding the scanning process. Love the two child's uninhabited pose.

I don't know how you can get rid of the brightness at the end without losing the detail on the faces, stones, and walls. I don't find the brightness all that troubling, in any case. It's a very nice shot, worthy of all the attention it's getting.

Lannie, thanks. I spent a few time to decide the aperture and speed on this shot. I shoted 2 times. The scan is a very normal one. With another one, as mentioned above, I got more details in the back ground and much more sharpened. I will try to redo it, just to compare. The Sum35 offer a lot of possibilities but also offers a lot of chance to fail. Thanks for your comment

I could care less what kind of camera was used or how it was scanned, I just really appreciate the results here in front of me. I hope you do a series and let us see some more before you get well known and leave us little people in cyber-dust.

WHERE are George's comments? Did he delete them or this is another case of charming sterilised treatment from this site?
