Beautifully executed and composed (I really love that bit of reflection in the foreground)... the fact that it was the last sunset of the 20th century just adds to this photo's appeal. Very well done!

This photo is the current cover shot for Nature Photographer magazine, so congratulations on a well-deserved accolade. This really is a stunning shot of a magical place with sky conditions I was hoping for on my recent trip there but was rewarded with no clouds whatsoever!

A couple of questions: In the write-up in the magazine, you say you used an ND grad filter but here you list the Tiffen 81B. Which is correct, if I may ask. It's just that I looked for evidence of the ND on the tufa towers and couldn't see it and I am very interested to know what went into making this image.

Secondly, is the Tioga Pass road often opened during the winter or was this a rare occurrence?

Lovely portfolio, by the way!

I don't know what to say ... just too beautiful. It's so darn clear, I feel if I get any closer to the screen I'll see my own reflection in the water.

This is an extremely beautiful shot. Yes, I too like the reflection in the foreground. I am wondering whether you shot some horizontals (landscape mode) also with a wide angle? I think that might look even better but of course not suitable for a magazine cover.

Simply one of the most beautiful shots I've seen on PN. Superb composition, perfect exposure, and nature cooperated with a wonderful sky. Great work!

When I first saw this, I made it the wallpaper for my laptop. After reflecting on this image for awhile, I can't escape the feeling that it is perhaps the most perfect landscape photo that I have ever seen. I love the lighting, and especially the color of the clouds. I have truly been inspired by browsing through your portfolio!
