alecee 0 Posted July 21, 2004 The good old days are gone for this door in Bodie State Historic Park. Link to comment
sterioma 0 Posted July 21, 2004 The exposure looks almost perfect, even though you have lost a bit the highlights in the reflections the right upper side of the door. Nice warm colours and atmosphere. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 21, 2004 Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Stefano, you have a sharp eye to note the white gleen on the right side of the door. However, I just need to clarify that it is not overexposed highlights. There are actually white powdery substance on the door and it shows exactly like how I saw it. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 21, 2004 I like the composition and the subject, and I've two questions (1) do you really need so much space above the door? I like the fact that there is a diagonal line coming down from the top right corner, but the horizontal structure on the wall is a bit distracting (2) was there such a strong side light on the door, or is is a tad too much of Unsharp Mask filter? Cheers, s. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 21, 2004 Thank Peter for the comments. Salvatore, I like the way the light falls on the faded wallpaper making a soft glow so I didn't crop it. And yes - the lighting outside is very bright which is why it lit up the interior. I used F/16 and a Manfrotto tripod at 1/20 sec so there is considerable sharpness without having to use the unsharp mask. I feel Nikon D70 performed extremely well here to control the exposure at manual setting. I'm actually quite pleased with the result. The original image will definitely make a good sized print. someoneelse 1 Posted July 23, 2004 Don't show me a door, and I am in love, but this is so beautifull, the color, the atmosphere it creates, excellent. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 23, 2004 Gosh! So many distinguish members and comments from beautiful ladies about an old rustic door........I am truly humbled. Strange world we photographers live in preferring torned buildings instead of sweet smelling flowers? (",) Link to comment
