In answer to Simon, pure luck, camera set f8, 1/800 sec, and rattled off about 10 frames, this was the only sharp shot,

Fantastic pic! When you said you rattled off ten pictures... how fast can your Canon shoot? And F8 @ 1/800 I guess it must have been a bright setting (please excuse my newbie remarks).

 

 

Andy, thanks for the comment. The Canon 1d mk2 shoots at 8.5 frames/sec, I always shoot in aperture priority mode and find f8 is the minimum aperture to achieve any sort of DOF. This was shot in high sun at midday.
