Thank you for your critique. I usually don't comment on my own pictures. As I said, this one (like most others I post here) is not manipulated. No colors have been added. The PN policy states:

"Contrast adjustments and color balance adjustments may be made in enlargement and printing, scanning software, image editing software, etc, as may selective darkening or lightening of areas of the photograph (dodging and burning). But these should not be so extreme as to render the image an inaccurate or unrealistic representation of what the photographer saw." As I don't spend much time with PS (which some people have already noticed, as these pictures don't have all a very professional quality), be sure they are not very far from the initial capture. In this particular case, there is a slight dodging layer on the lake and a 15 % burning layer on the clouds, both orientated diagonally; 20 % more contrast on the clouds. cheers ! chris

INCREDIBLE!

You must have been so excited....

I always do some minor PS adjustment for color and contrast, simply because (in my case) a CCD doesn't ALWAYS capture the scene as I see it.

Go for it!

This photo reminds me of paintings of great masters. You were, indeed, lucky to see the God's great cosmic movie and capture it. Heartiest congratulations.

For my taste, manipulation has gone too far here... The over contrasted light on the clouds makes it looks too unreal, something that in this case is not really needed, for the already dramatic appearence of the clouds' shapes.

Probably the photographer should post an untouched version to allowed us to judge better.

Actually, Chris, extreme contrast adjustments can change colors too dramatically to be be called "unmanipulated."

I like it, in any case. It is very surreal. I suspect that I would still like it with less contrast. I would appreciate seeing the original file, in any case, since the blue is so compelling in the upper right.

Gongrats of the photo well done! Nature known to us does go to extremes -but overdoing what Nature has done already- as impressive it might look -does take something away...This I call Spielberg impressionism ... however, I like the photo:)

"Spielberg impressionism" - I like that expression Hannu. Looking at that picture again, I agree it's more Spielbergish than actually based on pointillism (though no heavy special effects were used), hence the title. We'll invert that tendency in further postings... cheers, chris
