Rock Formation - PPC1IS

bekster

Just one day with a nice sky in a magical place. Putting this in a glass mount for scanning seemed to help with sharpness. This was awarded first place in intermediate slides in the Plano Photography Club monthly competition.

great lighting and colors. I find the rock formation itself to be subject enough...thought the horse touch is amusing. Very nice snap to the shot, too. Would you consider lightening the foreground around the fence a little? Regardless, a fantastic shot.

Hi J Montgomery! No this is the ONLY shot of this rock formation. I was carrying the camera loose without a tripod (because they are not allowed) very odd for me. I have a shot of the dunes behind, but it is not impressive. I shot everything on shutter priority and came out okay... Thank you for commenting on three of my photographs today!

MacGregor Anderson, honored by your visit... I just love that shot of your of the falls with the fisherman... so much energy in that... Sure, I could lighten the fence a bit and try to do something with that dark hulk on the left too... Another day... I will replace this one with that. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks Colin! I bet this looks like a ship to you ;-) We both love ships and the sea I think...

wow becky, excellent shot! i also like the horses version as well. a scene like this works great in color and would go quite well in IR or b&w i think. i really like the cloud formation on the right.

I could have sworn I made a comment here yesterday... Must have forgotten to select "Confirm"...

Aivar, Thanks for the nice comment, but especially for taking me on that Everest trek ;)

It was cold and I am tired but it was worth the view...

Els, Thanks! The self-portrait, hmm... I was smiling because I finally found the bathroom. I took that the same day as the egret wading, my first pic on photo net.

Asim, Thanks for the kind words, I like the horses the best myself. I can do B&W in photoshop but not sure about IR, probably not. The clouds were cooperative for this. Thanks!

Becky, using the infrared action available at fredmiranda.com here is what you would get - i just left the default settings. i took out the rock on the far left b/c since it doesn't have any interesting light hitting it, it was just a dark blob.

Ahh I like the cropped version with the horses better, but I agree with the comment of switching the horses. I dont like the infra-red vesion above as it tenses to drain the dramatic-ness out from the clouds.
