gleeson 0 Posted July 15, 2004 I shot this photo of my wife and son in my living room in Oklahoma, then used Adobe Photoshop to transport them to Big Sur coast in California. (The original photo is at gleeson.us/remote/SurOrig.jpg).And honestly, I don't know if a woman wearing gauze is "nude" enough to be in the Nudes category, but this is my first time posting anything on Photo.net, and I sure don't want to break any rules. If anyone could advise on what the standards are for posting in Nudes vs. Portraits, I would appreciate it. Link to comment
james_watt 0 Posted July 15, 2004 Really well done! If you hadn't said this was a digitally composed photo I never would have known. Link to comment
olivier_basirico 0 Posted July 16, 2004 Good idea! I do however have a couple of comments to make. My first reaction to this shot was...there is something wrong? The lighting of your wife and child does not match the outdoor scene. Your image I think would have been stronger if you would have not put the main subject in the middle but rather off-center, because they are looking afar. Be a bit more subtile with your selection in photoshop and apply a slight feather before deleting background, this would help for the hair. Basically you have all the skill to make great shot like these and much more Keep up the good work!! Sorry if I am a bit harsh, But I was a graphic artist for 10 years and use to specialize in Fx photography. Last and not least: Answer for your question Nudes or portraits. In general you put in nudes when you see nudity (erotic body part ex: breasts, bottoms, etc..) and in this case I would have put this one in portraits. Link to comment
daisy apple girl 0 Posted July 16, 2004 I love the composition... it can't be more perfect; however, I feel the color is a bit washed out. Perhaps liven up the colors a little bit? :) Just a suggestion. Link to comment
Marvin 4 Posted July 17, 2004 It's certainly an appealing portrait. However, for me there is too much detail and sharpness of the background and rocks. I think that softening of the background would enhance the subject matter (mother & child). Link to comment
