What do you guys think? I know some of the highlights are blown, but

am curious on if the composition has any affect on the viewer. Does

it "move" you? Why? or better yet, Why not?

Thanks...Johnny T

I know it's not the case, but my first reaction when I saw the photo was "the bicycle's sitting there on a kickstand and he used a motion blur in photoshop." You did a technically great job capturing the cyclist and the motion in the background, but I'd try to incorporate something in the picture that makes it look a little less photoshopped - a piece of the trail, the whole bicycle, a nearby object that blurs less than the background, etc.

Then again, its sad that motion blurs have gotten so popular that I'm saying you should be thinking about how to make your image not look altered when you're composing your shot . . .

You mean photo shop can manipulate an image like this? Boy, now that is taking the fun out of photography. I am a complete neophyte when it comes to PS, and it would seem to me harder to do all this on a computer screen than burn it on film (just to do basic PS stuff is a pain) . Although on the other hand I feel quite flattered that the photo could be mistaken for computer manipulation, at least I pushed the limits of film, or have I?

Bike photos with the whole bike/trail/background are mostly boring, or at least very hard to do right and not to make the photos look like point and shoot. Anyway, I like photos that get in a riders face, It's the eyes and physical expressions that make it for me. Although next time around I will see how to incorporate more elements. I will admit this photo was a lot of luck, This was the first outing on a new body, and was experimenting with different flash techniqes. Thankyou for your responses.

I like this pic! Nice colors, contrast, lighting and a great sense of motion. Tnx for the information on how you took this picture too.

Would be nice to see some of the trail.. see the blur on the wheels and tires... Still, I like the pan in the background, gives a good indication of speed.
