Cape Cod beach

I am a beginner...and really want to get some feedback. Thanks!

Nice colors, good fence, good sand, nice shadows. I would have taken a little different angle. to show the fence leading off further toward the horizon and pick up more shadows. Good shot, still.

People who can access cape cod have an unfair advantage! Its so photogenic.

 

I like the structure of this photograph. The near 90 degree angle between the fence and its shadow.

 

Have you seen the book "Cape Light" by Joel Meyerowitz?

There is a Portugese photographer on photo.net who has some very good photographs of fences in B&W. Sorry, don't remember his name, but you might be able to find him by looking at the "top rated" photographs or someone else might remember.

How true is the colour reproduction? Is this really the way it looked? Was this tweaked before uploading?

 

Technically, I think the composition is excellent (something I'm having trouble with). The way the fence leads the eye to the brilliant blue of the sky is interesting and well done. I like the contrast of the sand and sky, but the ocean looks *really* dark.

I didn't change anything on the picture. It was the way it looked. I took this with a point-and-shoot and also had no chance to use a filter... so the ocean was "really" dark...
