Thanks for the comments. To Rajesh...I let the millipede crawl on a stick and held it up in the air so there was nothing else close enough for my flash to effect it...F8 1/1600 sec. exposure. I just finally discovered recently after 1000's of bug shots, the best way to shoot them without a cluttered background is to shorten the exposure. The flash always does the job.
