The Argument

mplonsky

I was trying to photograph the lady against with the purple flower background when the ant came in and starting arguing. I assume they were arguing over an aphid. The ants farm them and the ladies eat them.

A composite of 2 images in an effor to increase DOF.

Since macros are about details, I encourage viewing at the larger size.

Thanks for commenting. I am finding the rebel is faster at focusing and will do so with less light than the G3 when using autofocus. For macro, I focus manually. I do like using the wheel on the lens in focusing rather than relying on moving the camera in and out as I essentially had to do with the G3. As for accurate focusing, both cameras are quite capable.

Thanx for such kind words. I used the digital rebel with a Tamron 2xTC, canon 100mm macro, canon 500D closeup, 420ex flash on a kirk butterfly bracket and covered with an omnibounce diffuser. I took at least a dozen shots and spent a bit of time with this one in the digital darkroom.

I've seen many macro pictures, but this one is one of the best. Wow... Background is not black, well exposed etc, depth of field is perfect, colors and composition also.

Usually, I'm not a huge fan of macrophotography but I can't help but love this one. Not only are the colors stunting, the interaction between the two subjects, contrasting sizes, and etc., really turn this macrophotograph into something more than a technical success. Clearly it tells a story.

By the way, who won the argument?

So amazing! You really took the cake with this shot. I don't have an original comment, so I'll just say WOW! I love it!!

The image is good, no doubt, but the caption make it more appealing.

Excellent work.
