Formal Dinner

We all copy ideas from other people, sometimes consciously, sometimes not. It's good to see this image getting views in part because this issue makes for a good discussion. Problem is, this turns out to be yet another example of how many people can't be bothered to read other people's comments.

 

Maybe we should remove the phrase 'leave a comment' and replace it with 'participate in a discusion".

 

What is original about this composition is the association with a sun . . . . at least that's what I saw.

When I was leaving my last comment directed at Mister Mediocrity, I was thinking, "I bet this is something Carl Root would be interested in discussing". And here you are. :) That's what I admire about you Carl, for such a visual medium you are just as interested in diologue as well. I must say that I was a little surprised to see a few comments after my last one on the originality of this photograph. I just assumed they hadn't read my comment. I think if there was a way to somehow separate the different types of comments, such as positive, neutral, or negative, or something like that, it might foster more discussion. That's asking a lot I suppose. Then again, the people who want to get involved in a discussion will take the time to sift through the comments and respond if they think it's an interesting topic.

I know you did not mean to blindly imitate someone else's work. Your response to my comment (I'm Mr M) proves that. And like I said, it is a great photograph. I was also aware of the previous admonition by Marco regarding Steeper's work; I did indeed read through the comments. But because many people do not, I think it would have been best for you to include the caveat in the Tech Details, or perhaps even in the Critique Request comment. Regards.

Todd you have executed this very well and I am very impressed with the results.

I tried to improve on last year's images but I couldn't get the little buggers to cooperate this year. (My wife was very displeased with last year's photo session.)
