When I saw this image I instantly recognised it as one of yours! I think that is a good thing!

Maybe there is only you on p.n that has a passion for pianos!

Nice picture... but maybe not too exciting!

Superb shot Carl. What I really like is how clean this is. Great clarity, wonderful color. And for me, the "excitment" is in the geometry...and as a musician the knowledge of the potential of the instrument.

The placement of the keyboard in the lower corner at a diagonal is perfect.

While I agree this isn't really an exciting shot, it was one of my first attempts at 'extracting' a piano composition. The year end judge like it for what was there and for what wasn't. I've tried to keep that in mind.

Mostly, it's the pristine condition of the piano itself, and Bosendorfer's choice for the color of the plate.

After looking at this image for a while, I think this was a difficult shot to frame. I think a high degree of credit should be given to the maker.

Thanks, Howard. The idea was to integrate what the player sees with the structural components that are usually hidden.

Great composition! Part abstract, part realistic. The lighting is perfect in extracting all the detail.

The piano is illuminated by large glass windows and doors both in front of and behind the piano. It's probably the best lighting conditions of any piano in my clientel . . . . and on such a pristine instrument!

This was the first of three sessions a year or so apart.
