craig_h 0 Posted July 2, 2004 Superb use of natural light. There a couple of layers to this image and you've captured it all with great contrast and perfect exposure. Link to comment

bentes_world 0 Posted July 2, 2004 Note:The photographer has specifically requested critique (and rating) of this photograph. Accordingly, please direct your comments towards the strong, and, more particularly, the weak points of this photograph. Try to maintain a constructive tone, but do not hesitate to be critical of this photograph, since that is what the photographer has invited. I know very well these words are not yours Ken and the only thing I can spell right at the moment is: W O W ..... but I'll try to do a sober coment after all. WOW .....WOW.....WOW.....WOW.......WOW 1st WOW ..... for the ability you have to see the motive this way 2nd WOW ..... for the colors changing in the many nuances 3rd WOW ..... for the details. It is pretty detailed even it is a little against the early sunlight 4th WOW ..... for how you are using the natural light here 5th WOW ..... for you being up that early and being there there right moment. .....and then I have one tiny question: Why were you there ... and what were you doing there ....... ah... forget the questions (-; Link to comment

hanna_cowpe 0 Posted July 2, 2004 I guess I'd better elaborate on my comment before being told to stand in the corner. You already know how I feel about this image but here it is for the record. I like the strong graphic effect of the tree trunk silouettes and their shadows and the rhythmical way they drift into the distance. I like the relaxing effect of the slightly undulating grass, cool and calm, and how it leads to the bright open space in the background and the warm hues of the bushes. And then there is the misty blue in the distance; the unknown but not unwelcoming space that brings it all together. The ups and downs, the ins and outs, the warms and colds; sounds like life doesn't it. It was the first time around, and still is, my favourite in your portfolio. Link to comment

miles_hecker 0 Posted July 2, 2004 I seem to remember seeing this shot in a less contrasty, less saturated version. This version works much better. It has a somewhat unusual blue-black-green color harmony which gives it a lovely mood. The improvement I might suggest is to lower the contrast in the upper left corner somewhat to reveal a little more detail in this area. Anyway well done Ken. Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Miles, so good to see you, as always ... The previous version was on an older scanner used by a younger photographer - this is done on a newer scanner by an older photographer ....... think there's a moral there somewhere. I like your idea about the contrast and I'll give it a try - thanks ! I also recommend a visit to see Miles's work if you haven't already. Link to comment

allanjensen 0 Posted July 3, 2004 The play with light - dark and light, the extremely long shadows and the two dominating colors green and blue make up a very good combination. Well done Ken Link to comment
milan.ilnyckyj 0 Posted July 3, 2004 I love the contast between the verdant grass and the snow: a beautiful composition. Link to comment
