jimcrotty 0 Posted August 13, 2001 Very nice job Chris. I especially like the reflection on the water. You also have some great shots of Bryce Canyon on your web site. Excellent work. Link to comment
j._scott_schrader 0 Posted August 13, 2001 This shot looks to me like you had a GND filter on but had it oriented from right to left (light to dark) instead of bottom to top. Yes, I like the colors, and yes the composition is fine, but it really screams out to me that the GND filter was oriented the wrong way for this composition. Link to comment
chris_venhaus 49 Posted August 13, 2001 There was no ND filter used. I used a 24mm lens, and dodged the beach on the LS in PS, because my scanner had a hard time with the detail. Use of a ND filter would have been all but impossible, while still getting the cloud formations crisp, and maintaining a reasonable depth of field. Thanks for your comments :-) Link to comment
myhlow 0 Posted August 22, 2001 Chris, I am sure I commented on this b4 ... nice color and cloud formation. The arc formed by the cloud goes well with the arc form by the shoreline. Excellent shot! Link to comment
chris_venhaus 49 Posted September 6, 2001 I've posted for critique before, but I'd like more input, please.... Thanks. Link to comment
ricardojmendez 0 Posted September 6, 2001 I just love the fact that sky and water are the only things that have colour in the image. The strangely shaped cloud looks almost like it's coming from a volcano and adds a lot of movement to the scene. Great job! Link to comment
yuriy y. vilin 0 Posted September 6, 2001 Great shot. The storm is fading away and sun illuminates the scary looking cloud making it more peaceful. Only deep shadows still remind what was happening here a few hours ago... Nice catch, excellent execution. Link to comment
squirrelman 0 Posted November 23, 2001 It's hard to criticize a photo this nice. The water refections and cloud detail are fantastic. Link to comment
toni martin 0 Posted December 12, 2001 Chris, why did you decide to use Provia 100F on this one? Please. Link to comment
chris_venhaus 49 Posted February 20, 2002 I used 100F mainly for speed. It was relatively dim light and the clouds were really hauling butt. I wanted to use a smaller aperture also, but the resultant shutterspeed was too slow to freeze the clouds. I also shot this scene with Velvia, but my scanner really has a tough time with dense slides. The image posted in my gallery is substantially inferior to the slide. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted September 30, 2002 Great sky. I'd have prefered it a bit darker here as well. And I find what's on the ground lacks a bit of visual appeal. Regards. Link to comment
