I overexposed a bit to preserve more shadow detail...wasn't allowed to use fill flash or reflectors. Strong sunlight lit the subject.

Oh well, here goes...

Great shot. As you know, the problem is burnout. The eyes are very expressive. Have an idea on another way to see this image.

I couldn't do much about the blown highlights. The strong sunlight from the window blew everything out and I couldn't risk killing off the shadows where most of the subject is. Also, this exression only lasted a mater of seconds...I had time to focus, take one quick meter reading and shoot. It's not a situation where you can move your subject to a better lighting situation.

Not bad,

I'll have to decide wheather I want to crop that tightly...I kinda like the wisps of hair in the background. But a good idea...I'll have to think a bit on that.

Thanks for your input. Keep it coming!

I agree with Eduardo ... very powerful... in this case even the blown highlights help communicate the disturbing emotional content of this image.

Tnx Eduardo and David...

This is more like photojournalism and less like portrait...pretty much have to shoot what's there, imperfect conditions and all.
