Arches

ian cameron

This amazing viaduct crossing the valley near Balloch on it's way to Inverness is constructed from red brick. It is a gigantic engineering feat. It is impossible to conceive that anything like this will ever be built again. I doubt the necessary skills are still available. Never mind the prohibitive cost. The brickwork looks great against a blue sky with puffy white clouds.

This magnificent brick built viaduct has an enormous span and upward

of 40 similar such arches. The red brick work glowed in the

afternoon sunshine contrasting nicely with a vivid blue polarised sky

with puffy white clouds.

Ah yes - railway viaducts! Now you are talking my language Ian. We have a lot of them in Wales too, and they certainly are magnificent structures. Oh, by the way - great shot!
