petejr 0 Posted June 25, 2004 For me, there is no focus in this shot. Your intention is not apparent. Link to comment
bernard_tam 0 Posted June 25, 2004 To clarify, it is at noon one day. The man on the right hand side is one scanvenger (notice his left feet) and at the moment i take the shot, he is feeding himself with what he just discovered in the trash bin (the yellow one). I am trying to bring out contrast between these various people and highlight the helplessness of the scanveger. Link to comment
petejr 0 Posted June 26, 2004 Bernard, thank you for taking the time to reply. After reading your explanation, while helpful, it doesn't help the photograph. Your picture, looking at it objectively, doesn't convey what you were trying to show. IMO, anyone looking at your shot will simply see this man as someone stopping at the railing. Of course, since you were there you know what happened but people seeing your shot weren't there and have to depend on what you show them. IMO, it just doesn't work. Pete Link to comment
bernard_tam 0 Posted June 28, 2004 yes i agree that could be a lot of room for improvement esp in the composition. thanks all, esp pete! Link to comment
patrick brady 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Although I agree somewhat with Pete's comments I must add that the contrast between the movement of people and the still figure makes this an above average photo in my opinion. Watch out for a similar photo opportunity i.e. the contrast of movement and stillness but with more visual appeal and you could be onto something. Link to comment
